Dr Louise Rainey

Dr Louise Rainey MB BCh BAO MRCPI MICGP DRCOG

Dr Louise Rainey is a founding General Practitioner at Leeson Medical, Dublin 2.

Dr Rainey is originally from Donegal and graduated from University College Dublin School of Medicine in 2007. She commenced General Medical training in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin in 2008, and in 2009 was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland (MRCPI).

Dr Rainey spent time training in Anaesthesia before switching to General Practice, and in 2012 commenced the Dublin Inner City GP Training Scheme. During this time she worked in a variety of hospital departments including Accident and Emergency, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics and Adult Medicine. In 2017 she was awarded Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP).

Dr Rainey has happily worked in the South Dublin area as a GP for the past seven years, and in 2024 was proud to set up her own practice, Leeson Medical.

Dr Rainey enjoys treating patients of all ages, and has a particular interest in the area of Women’s Health (contraception, menstrual issues, fertility, cervical smear tests, menopause care etc). In 2013, Dr Rainey was granted the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG), and in 2024 she attained the Irish College of General Practitioners Certificate in Community Gynaecology.  She holds an Advanced Certificate in Long Acting Contraception (LARC) and is a member of both the Irish Menopause Society and the International Menopause Society.

Dr Rainey has additional qualifications in Addiction Medicine and Palliative Care

Practice Location

Leeson Medical is located right next to Leeson Street Bridge, directly beside the Grand Canal Bike Path.

Parking (paid) is available on Adelaide Road, and also on Fitzwilliam Street.

There is a bike stand with Sheffield bike stands to which to lock your bike, immediately adjacent to the practice.

We are a 6 minute walk (500m) from Charlemont Luas stop.
